Or the cutesy (compared to cockroach, anyways) southern name, palmetto bug. This is a baby:

Holy chitlin. I went camping in Western Mass and collected a shitload of dead bugs at the campground. Katydids, lots of moths especially of the tree-destroying gypsy variety, and some giant mean-looking flies with stabby mouthparts. It's weird, I usually just find dead bugs around my house and under the deck, not really in less domestic places outdoors.

I'm thrilled that so many people have joined this community so far. You probably all fucking rock.

If anybody felt like making some less ghettofied icons for the comm, that would be lovely.

on my front doorstep, besides being the dead june bug mecca, it is also a place where snails regularly convene. my friend nikki accidentally stepped on one of these snails and it has become a snail/slug buffet. there are a bunch of snails and (mostly) slugs eating what is left of our dearly departed snail-friend. while a snail is a mollusk, and neither an insect or bug, this seems like the perfect place to show of this picture:

I'm pretty sure this guy is a lacewing. A whopping 2" long from head to wingtip, if I'd have seen it alive, I would have had some serious heebee-jeebees. The third one I've found this week!

So, hi. I'm Sandra and I just made this community. Please join and post lots of pictures of dead bugs that you find, and we can all make each other real smart. Yay!
